Hole in One Act Play Festival

Hole in One Act Play Festival PosterFour original new plays will be premiered on the main stage of  the Dolman Theatre in October.

Playgoers will be performing the winning One Act Plays from the  play-writing competition on the theme of ‘golf’ that we have organised over the last few months to coincide with Newport Festival 2010 and, of course, The Ryder Cup.

The plays are:

‘Out of Bounds’ by Neil Chapman (directed by Alex Wilson)

‘Bunkered by Phil Mansell (directed by Caroline Drewett-Mansell)

‘Surviving the Century’ by Kevin Myers (directed by Russell Walker)

‘Futagolf’ by David D Thomas and Mark Hardwidge (directed by Lynn Phillips)

This exciting and high-profile initiative has been made possible by the postponement of the scheduled play, The Shell Seekers, to a future season.

The four plays will be performed from Tuesday 12th to Saturday 16th October, including a matinee.   The final performance will be attended by dignitaries and the result will be announced at its conclusion.   An amazing total of 40 original plays were entered, and the final judging of the scripts was carried out by Wales’s most famous playwright, Frank Vickery.
